I love finding new and emerging bands to enjoy throughout the day. About 6 months ago, I was introduced to the band Seneca Hawk. This Los Angeles trio consists of Jonah Rivera (lead singer & guitar), Ankur Bulsara (drum) and Kyle Beswick (bass). Together these three talented musicians have created a powerfully, energetic array of songs that offer passionate variances about love, heartache and the search for finding one’s true “home”. In their first, full album, “Sun Year Long” recently released on iTunes, this band’s music is already being played on the radio and loved by fans all over the world from Seattle to Iceland and more!
Even before the release of “Sun Year Long”, Seneca Hawk was enjoying growing popularity with their hit song “Steal Your Heart Away” being featured in an iphone app game called Tap Tap Revenge. This game features other artists like Smashing Pumpkins and Silversun Pickups. In the company of such exceptional talent it isn’t surprising that after only about three months, “Steal Your Heart Away” was downloaded over ½ a million times!

As Seneca Hawk’s most popular song, it’s no wonder “Steal Your Heart Away” is enjoying the growing recognition it deserves. Upbeat, fun and romantic, this song makes the female listener wish for a boy who would steal her heart away and make her feel beautiful enough to have her picture taken while she’s sleeping; and makes the male listener wish for a girl who would make him want to sing this song to. It reminds the innocent romantic heart what being in love’s all about; being completely adored and admired by the one person in your life that you love more than anyone in the world.
Dozen Hearts

This song definitely speaks to the broken hearted. What’s interesting to me about this song is how it can make you want to get up and DANSE with its energetic beat and melody, yet the heartbreaking lyrics and the passion in Rivera’s voice is enough to bring reminiscent tears to the eyes of anyone who’s ever had their heart broken. I love it and believe it’s going to be another hit from their album.
Oceans Apart

No matter how many times I listen to this song, it immediately reminds me of every time my heart’s been broken. It’s sad, it’s beautiful. It reflects the pain and passion we all go through when we give our hearts completely and the love we give is not returned or worse the love returned “breaks your heart”. It reminds you to be careful and tread cautiously into new relationships. It’s truly a perfect song to listen to on repeat after a break up, just be sure to have your friends and family nearby for much needed TLC.
